Right to health and access to social and health services for asylum seekers and beneficiaries of international protection: European territory

17 December 2014, 9-16-23-30 January 2015 – Villa La Quiete, Firenze

Organised by:
GLOBAL HEALTH CENTRE INTERNATIONAL BRICK PROJECT

In collaboration with:
DOCTORS FOR HUMAN RIGHTS ASSOCIATION OF LEGAL STUDIES ON IMMIGRATION

The increasing number of migrants requiring international protection poses issues of “form”, “method”, and “reception”. The goal is to offer a series of workshops and training opportunities on access to health for migrants to people in charge of regional and local implementation of the legislation: regional leaders on immigration policies, directors of local administrative and health services, and administrative and health care workers in direct contact with clients. Using an open and participatory methodology, it seeks to bring out the critical issues and existing good practice in the reception of immigrants in various contexts, thereby achieving further harmonisation and effectiveness of the system.

Policies and Regional Strategies for the Health of Migrants: Experiences of Health and Social Services in Comparison

4 July 2014 – Villa La Quiete, Firenze

Organised by:
GLOBAL HEALTH CENTRE INTERNATIONAL BRICK PROJECT

In collaboration with:
TUSCANY REGION EMBASSY, BRUSSELS

From the perspective of social health, migration affects Italy and southern Europe and poses new and continuing challenges with respect to the health needs of the immigrant population, which host countries must be able to “interpret” and respond to appropriately. Migrants have complex social and health needs that result from experiences (sometimes traumatic) in their countries of origin and along their migratory path, as well as the difficulties often encountered in the process of insertion and integration into the host society.
The event, organised within the framework of the International Brick Project, proposes a debate and dialogue on different regional experiences of organising access routes to health services for the migrant population.
The purpose is to identify and analyse different regional experiences and to determine methodologies and best practices based on practical experience with migration management.
