A.R.S. Data
“The increasing phenomenon of immigration that concerns our country requires us to objectively and quantitatively evaluate what the real health needs of these populations are in order to ensure a genuine universalism” – Nuti, S., Maciocco, G. and Barsanti , S., (ed) [2012] Immigration and Health. Processes of Social Integration, Bologna, Mulino).
The ARS Tuscany Regional Health Agency offers you a magnifying glass on this interesting aspect and constantly monitors the well being of the population of Tuscany, with an articulated report focused on the health of migrants.
The health indicators presented below can help you to better frame the territorial context of Tuscany and to report any problems, thus guiding future health planning and strategic decisions in order to increase the quality of care for “new citizens”.
In particular, the report highlights the following main areas:
- Hospitalisation of the immigrant population and access to emergency care,
- Women’s health and the mother-child path.
The data that we present reflect the current response that our health care system has implemented to meet the health needs of a young and mainly migrant population, 53% of which consists of young women of childbearing age.
